Bird Island – Olivia Community Foundation was previously known as the BIO Legacy Foundation. The Bird Island – Olivia Community Foundation is an Affiliate of the Southwest Initiative Foundation.

Kelly Hagen – President
Kelly Hagen joined BIO Legacy after becoming interested in how the organization gives back to nonprofits. She grew up in the area and loves the small-town environment. Kelly has been employed with Saunders Mertens Schmitz since 2018 and looks forward to furthering her career and community involvement.

Duane Remer – Vice President
Duane has been an active member of the Olivia community for the past 27 years. He has raised 5 children with his with Julie who have attended St Mary’s and Bold Schools. He is the branch manager for Hometown Bank in the Olivia office. Prior to Hometown, he spent 32 years with the Farm Credit System in various roles. He has been on numerous boards over the years such as Olivia Hospital Foundation, Kiwanis, Olivia Chamber of Commerce, ProAg of Renville County, Bold JO volleyball, Bold travel basketball, administrative councils at St Aloysius Church, and has served as a trustee at St Aloysius Church over the past 15 years. He has volunteered as a coach for many youth sports and continues to assist with Bold varsity sports. He is happy to be involved with the Bird Island Olivia Community Foundation board, and he appreciates the positive impact the BIOCF Foundation has supported.

Kayla Hirschman-Treasurer
Kayla is a Personal Banker at Frandsen Bank & Trust in Bird Island. She lives south of Bird Island with her Husband Robert and 2 sons, Harper (12) and Max (10). She enjoys reading, lake days, and just being outside. She grew up In Bird Island and looks forward to helping our community grow and thrive.

Olivia Tersteeg – Secretary
Olivia Tersteeg is a Digital Real Estate Appraiser at Ag Country Farm Credit Services. She is originally from Iowa, but met her husband, Austin Tersteeg, in college. Olivia grew up a family farm in Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a double major in Agricultural Business and Finance. Olivia’s hobbies include taking care of her cow calf herd, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Kassi Einerson
Kassi Einerson is a Business Systems Specialist at Farmers Union Industries. Born and raised in Olivia, Minnesota, she earned an Associate Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Kassi is a proud farmer’s wife and mother of two daughters who enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. She is honored to be part of an organization that serves rural communities and is committed to making a positive impact in the community she calls home.

Jessica Aaseth
Jessica Aaseth serves as the Community Education Director at BOLD Public Schools and is also the Head Varsity Softball Coach. Originally from Michigan, she met her husband, Ben, while they were both living in North Dakota, where she spent ten years before relocating to Ben’s hometown in 2022. The Aaseth family now resides in Olivia with their son, Walker (8). Outside of work, Jessica enjoys softball, golf, pickleball, board games, DIY projects, and watching a variety of sports. Go Bold Warriors!!!!

Austin Neubauer
Austin grew up in Olivia and, after graduating from college, returned to the area to build his career and stay connected to the place where he was raised. Today, he works as a financial advisor with Edward Jones, helping individuals and families work toward their long-term financial goals. He is excited to serve on the Bird Island-Olivia Community Foundation Board and support projects and initiatives that help strengthen our local communities. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with family at the cabin and on the golf course. He looks forward to giving back through his service on the Foundation Board.

Raven All Runner
Raven All Runner was born and raised in Renville County and has always had a strong connection to the communities she calls home. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from Southwest Minnesota State University and spent several years in the corporate world, with much of her career focused on working alongside and supporting the nonprofit sector. After eventually stepping away to pursue entrepreneurship and grow her own businesses, Raven quickly realized how much she missed being involved in mission-driven work. Today, she stays connected by volunteering her time and serving on nonprofit boards throughout the region. As a business owner, she brings her experience in finance, leadership, and community development together with a genuine passion for giving back and helping rural communities thrive.
