Bird Island – Olivia Community Foundation was previously known as the BIO Legacy Foundation. The Bird Island – Olivia Community Foundation is an Affiliate of the Southwest Initiative Foundation.

Holly Johnson

Holly Peterson – President
Holly Peterson is Head of People at Rural Computer Consultants in Bird Island, MN. She lives in Olivia, MN with her two kids and two cats. Her hobbies include singing at church, reading, playing piano, and binge watching quality TV. Holly was born and raised in the area and has a passion to see the community continue to thrive and succeed! She has been on the BIO Legacy Board for almost 6 years now, and President of the Board for just over a year.

Kelly Youngkrantz joined BIO Legacy after becoming interested in how the organization gives back to nonprofits. She grew up in the area and loves the small town environment. Kelly has been employed with Saunders Mertens Schmitz since 2018 and looks forward to furthering her career and community involvement.

Tara Amberg, Bird Island

Tara Amberg
Tara Amberg has  worked for Rural Computer Consultants, Inc since moving to Bird Island in 2004.  She and her husband Pete have three sons, two of whom are adults living their best lives out of state and the third is preparing to head off to college in the fall.  She is a Rabbit through and through, having graduated high school as a Wabasso Rabbit and moving on to Jackrabbit status at South Dakota State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management.   She and Pete enjoy being outside, live music, things that go fast, the smell of harvest and most of all entertaining friends and family.

Neal Prokosch
Neal Prokosch is the Senior Vice President – Senior MN Market Manager of Citizens
Alliance Bank in Lake Lillian and has 39 years of experience in the banking industry. Neal grew up in Bird Island and resides in BI with his wife Brenda, they have three grown children and two grandchildren.He is active in many civic organizations including the Renville County HRA/EDA Small Business Revolving Loan Fund Board, the Bird Island City Council, the Bird Island EDA, the board of Island Living, Inc. Assisted Living, a member of Pro Ag of Renville County, the Bird Island Lions Club, the Lake Lillian Civic & Commerce Club, and has served on the BOLD School Board.

Jackie Kaufenberg
Jackie grew up in Olivia and currently resides there with her husband Neil and three teenagers. She has a Marketing Management degree from Ridgewater College and a Business Management degree from Southwest Minnesota State University.  Jackie currently works as the Marketing & Communications Director for Bollig Engineering in Willmar, mostly out of her home office. Her hobbies include being an enthusiastic spectator at all of her kids events, exercising, biking, hiking, and anything outside.

Olivia Tersteeg

Olivia Tersteeg – Secretary
Olivia Tersteeg, is a Credit Analyst at FM BANK. She is originally from Iowa, but met her husband, Austin Tersteeg, in college. Olivia grew up a family farm in Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a double major in Agricultural Business and Finance. Olivia’s hobbies include taking care of her cow calf herd, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Kayla Hirschman

Kayla Hirschman
Kayla is Personal Banker at Frandsen Bank & Trust in Bird Island. She lives south of Bird Island with her Husband Robert and 2 sons, Harper (12) and Max (10). She enjoys reading, lake days, and just being outside. She grew up In Bird Island and looks forward to helping our community grow and thrive.
